Requesting Materials from Other Libraries

If you are unsure if the library has the book, article, or other item that you need, you can call us at 628-5283 or e-mail us at refserv@fhsu.edu. Please tell us the title  and author of the book, or the title, journal , publishing date and page numbers of the article.

If you know that we do not own the item you need, you can request it, and we will try to get the item from another library.

If you live on-campus or can come to campus to pick up your materials, use the InterLibrary Loan form.

If you are a Distance Student, use the Distance Services form.

If you are requesting multiple items, you may send us an e-mail with the citations of the items, rather than filling out multiple forms.  Be SURE to include the title, author, journal name (for articles), publishing date and page numbers so that we can find what you need.

If you want to search other libraries' catalogs to identify books you might want, use the WorldCat database.

Click on the title of the book, then on "Borrow this item from another library" and complete the form online.

NOTE:  The time frame for delivery of requested materials depends on the item and where it is coming from.  We can often get articles electronically and get them to you through e-mail in a day or two, but don't depend on materials from other libraries if your paper is due in the next couple of days.  Books and other items that must be mailed will of course take longer.  There may be a charge for postage; we will notify you in advance and let you decide if you still want to request the item.
