Forsyth Library has approximately 25,000 children’s books. They are shelved in two separate areas: the Juvenile Collection, and the Harsh Collection.  Both are located in the basement of the library.

The Juvenile Collection is comprised of books which were purchased by the library.  They are shelved in Dewey Decimal order on the wooden shelves in the northwest area of the basement.

The Harsh Collection consists of approximately 12,500 books which were donated to the library by former FHSU Children's Literature professor, Donna Harsh.  These books are housed in a room in the northwest corner of the library's basement, and are also shelved in Dewey Decimal order.

Each book is listed in the Online Catalog, with a notation regarding whether it is shelved on the Juvenile shelves, or in the Harsh room just a few feet away.
