General Databases
The databases listed in this section cover many topics, and contain articles from newspapers,
journals and magazines. They are a good choice for most topics.
A large group of databases which can be searched all at once, or separately. Click the link above, then click "InfoTrac Databases" in the alphabetical list. A blue list of databases will appear with all boxes checked. You can search them all at once, or uncheck "Select All" at the top of the page, and then check just the ones you want to search. Enter a keyword or two in the box at the top of the page and click Submit. For more information on using these databases, view the tutorial below:

Issues & Controversies
This database "explores more than 800 hot topics in business, politics,government and popular culture." (quote from database). It includes reports, timelines, editorial cartoons, debates and more. Click on the
link above, then on "Issues & Controversies" to enter the database. Click on the question mark (?) in the upper right hand corner, then on "How to Use This Database" for search instructions.
CQ Researcher
"CQ Researcher is noted for its in-depth, unbiased coverage of health, social trends, criminal justice, international affairs, education, the environment, technology, and the economy. Reports are published weekly in print and online 44 times a year by CQ Press, a division of Congressional Quarterly Inc." ~CQ Researcher database. Search by typing in a keyword in the Quick Search box near the top of the page, or select from the "Recent Reports" listed on the right hand side, or click "Browse Topics" on the left hand side.
Literature Reviews, Critical Analysis and Author Biographies
Literature Resource Center
Click on the link above, then on Literature Resource Center in the alphabetical list.
Search by Author, Title, Keyword, Author by Type or Subject, and more.To find information on a particular work, click "Title", then type in the title and check "exact title". If you don't know the precise title, type in a few words you think are in the title and check "all words entered". If the work is found, click on the colored tabs labelled Literary Criticism (scholarly analysis), Articles (reviews and news or magazine articles) or Work Overview (a summary of the plot, key characters, etc.). Click on the large Biographies tab to find information on the author. Additional Resources tab gives relevant websites, and Literary Timeline shows what was going on in the world at the time the work was originally published.
